Storm Diaries - How is everybody doing?

Since Sandy is about to hit, I am sure there are VS people who are affected by the 'storm of the century'. I guess, if you are in a very bad spot, you should already be somewhere else and can't get to VS, or at leasts that's not your priority. I just hope everybody is safe!

But how are things near everybosy? Here in the middle of Ohio, the wind is picking up and getting naasty, and we are not even in near the areas to be the biggest hits. News have been forecasting high wings and power outages because if that (so I better post this before cable goes down). Mr NetRunner is still at work, and he is probably already tired of me IMing him about when can he leave and just come home. But the wind is getting crazy. I do hope my worries about having to rake my yard will be taken care of, though..

I went to the store this morning. Surprisingly I was able to get batteries. Although, if things go like with previous bad storms, the batteries ands flashlights run out only after the storm has hit and most people have their power out.

I have learned my lessons. I have at least 10 flashlights stashed around the house. Luckily we have had gas still working even after the power had gone out. A few years back we were out of power for about 5 days. Gas stove top worked, so I was able to make coffee and heat stuff up, and showers were hot. Luckily that was a September outage, so no heat, nor air conditioning were needed. We read a lot of books during that blackout And grilled! That was not too bad. If there is an outage this time, I don't think it will be that nice..

Anyway, I hope everybody is fine and safe. If you have any 'urban survival' tricks or stories, it would be nice to hear then

Take care!
